The First Hour Decides the Enrolment

Learners enquire with three providers at once. The one that replies first, with the right questions, usually wins. Here's how to build that reply.

A learner fills in your form at 9pm. They’ve also enquired with two other providers. Tomorrow at 11am, admissions calls them back. By then, someone else has already had the conversation.

In education, speed to lead is enrolment. Most providers lose more learners in the gap between enquiry and first contact than anywhere else in the funnel.

What a good first reply does

The first reply isn’t a “thanks, we’ll be in touch”. It should:

  1. Arrive within moments, ideally on WhatsApp, where learners actually read messages.
  2. Use their name and the course they asked about, so it doesn’t feel like a robot.
  3. Ask two or three qualifying questions: eligibility, start date, how they’d like to study.
  4. Give a next step: book a call, or get the information they need to decide.

Why it works

Admissions teams stop chasing cold numbers and start talking to learners who are ready and eligible. The enquiry stays warm, and the provider looks organised from the first message.

This is one of the five fixes behind 300+ enrolments in under three months for one of our providers, and the speed-to-lead work behind 200 enrolments for another.
